FdSc Computing and Web Management students - Rugby Credit Union website
Students Tom Clarke, Ryan Gilbert, Adrian Kaczmarek, Will Baldwin and Dan Watson designed the website after Credit Union Chairman Laurie Bird approached the college to see if they could help to revamp the website.
The students - who are in the second year of their Computing and Web Management foundation degree course - took on the challenge as a ‘live’ project, presenting ideas and concepts to members of the Credit Union’s board, before finally handing over the finished website to the credit union.
Laurie said, “We sat down with the students and lecturer Emily Keal and said initially what specification we wanted. Over three or four visits the website was developed and on the final presentation, the students also gave us ideas of how we can continue to improve it.
“It’s great for both sides, we get a wonderful new website, and the students get the experience. We’re very pleased with the site as people will be able to find out all the information they need much more easily so hopefully, we can raise awareness of the credit union and encourage more people to join.”
Dan Watson, 21 from Rugby, worked on the website. He said, “It’s been a great project to be involved in. We had a really good client relationship with the Credit Union board - getting their feedback on our ideas and making sure the website did what they wanted.”
“It felt really good to do something for the community and build the credit union the best website possible.”
The new website can be found at http://rugbycreditunion.co.uk/
Matthew Weston - IT Level 3
Matthew was apprehensive about joining such a large college but he explains here how the staff and other students made it really easy for him to settle in.
